Sexual assault streamed over Internet

TRENTON, N.J. (UPI) -- A federal judge has denied bail for a New Jersey woman accused of streaming a video of the sexual assault of a 5-year-old girl over the Internet.

Jennifer Mahoney, 32, of Manalapan, N.J. faces two counts of sexual exploitation of a child, the Daily Record of Parsippany, N.J. reported Tuesday.

Each count carries a prison sentence of 15-30 years and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

Mahoney appeared before U.S. Magistrate Tonianne J. Bongiovanni Monday, who denied bail out of "concern not only for the victim, but for any potential victims."

Prosecutors showed the judge videos of Mahoney allegedly assaulting the girl that were streamed to at least two other individuals, including a man in Texas where the video was first discovered by investigators.

In one of the videos the child is assaulted while asleep. In the other, she is assaulted in the bathtub.

Another court date for Mahoney was not scheduled.
