Mascara assures me of great things to come. Make-up is my ally.â€ The statement best describes New Jersey celebrity make-up artist and fashion stylist, Grisel Companioni.

Though Companioni can now boast experience in an array of industries â€“ film, media, video, television and runway â€“ she did not launch her make-up career until later in life. In the beginning, she simply saw make-up and fashion as hobbies. Her early, happy childhood memories include painting her face and playing dress-up in her parentsâ€™ clothes. She was the person her friends went to for advice on what to wear and how to look.

It wasnâ€™t until she got laid off from the corporate world she decided to take her favorite pastime seriously and begin a journey into the world of transformation and beauty. Companioni shoved her foot through the door and worked her brushes on nights and weekends to build a portfolio. â€œI had no one to connect me to this industry or help me get ahead. I did it all on my own. I was and am very determined and focused,â€ said Companioni.

Today, her artistry and talent can be seen in feature films, such as The Grand Theft, The Great Fight and The Life Zone. She has also worked on the Jonathan Simkhai Show, during NY Fashion Week, and Yesterdayâ€™s News Green Catwalk with designers Anthony Lilore, Barami, Bahar Shahpar, Lara Miller and Samantha Pleet.

Most recently, she worked in conjunction with celebrity hair stylist, Le Chateau Allure Salonâ€™s Penny Karagiorgis (â€œThe Real Housewives of New Jerseyâ€) on the production set of Snapshot, a full-length feature film, starring Zach McGowan, Angela Gots, Nina Transfeld, Michael Rivera, David Chokachi, Joyce DeWitt, Martin Kove, Michael Pare and Robert Loggia, which will premier at the Hoboken International Film Festival on June 1 at Hudson Cinemas in Jersey City.
