Church van's windshield stops bullet
(UPI) -- The pastor of a Jersey City, N.J., church says the windshield of a church van stopped a bullet that would otherwise have struck the driver.
The Rev. Reginald McRae of Mount Pisgah AME Church said the driver was taking 16 boys and girls home from choir practice Tuesday night when it was hit by gunfire, The Jersey Journal reported. A gunfight erupted down the street from the church just as the driver was leaving the parking lot.
"It shattered it but it didn't break through," he said of the bullet.
McRae said he rushed outside when he heard the shots and quickly got the choir members back in the church.
